So what really is property? In Modern America, the word is used often to describe any number of things: tennis shoes, a house, a car, your iPad. Most of us tend not to think about WHAT a thing, the physical or non-physical attributes of the thing, because we worry more about needing things and how to pay for them. The World English Dictionary defines property as “something that has value.” So what is a something and who assigns this value? According to this definition, just about anything is property, within reason, because just about everything has some sort of value to someone.
As a lawyer, I spend most of my practicing time helping people and businesses define what is their property and more importantly helping them protect it. Through this blog I plan to explore all the possibilities of property and how to protect them.
